Background
Starting March 2020, SME Corp. Malaysia had launched an initiatives to assist businesses/companies to verify their status as Small Medium Enterprise (SME). The idea behind this initiative is to help businesses/companies to have this supportive documents to verify them as SMEs when applying any assistances or incentives that specially offered to SMEs entities only. However, the businesses/companies must comply with the national definition of SMEs by the Government through Majlis Pembangunan Usahawan dan PKS Kebangsaan.
Who can register SME Status?
Any businesses in every sectors of economy that registered with Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM), any related business registrars or local authority (for Sabah & Sarawak), or statutory bodies (for professional service providers).
Requirements
Required Documents
1) Latest valid SSM registration.
2) i) Sdn Bhd: Latest complete audited financial statement either current year or previous year. @ Enterprise / PLT: Latest complete 12-month profit / loss statement or management account.
3) Latest company’s EPF contribution statement
4) Latest company’s ownership and shareholders statement which listed share’s ownership and total company’s share.
*for companies that incorporated less than 1 year, applicants may provide latest profit/loss statement or management account. If there are no such documents yet, applicants can provide company’s latest bank account statement.
